Training Your Bracco

Training a Bracco Italiano can be different from other dogs you may have worked with.  A Bracco requires consistent, gentle training.  They are very smart and eager to please.  They have a soft temperament and will respond exceptionally well to gentle, loving, positive training methods.

The Bracco can, at times, be quite stubborn.  Rarely will he or she require a serious correction.  Usually, gentle and consistent corrections will suffice.  Over-corrections, or an attempt to "break" the dog to work the way you want, can deflate their desire to work with you.  That said, sometimes it will be necessary to correct your dog.

It is often difficult to decide when a serious correction is deserved, therefore, we recommend that potential Bracco owners have prior dog training experience.  We also recommend obedience/behavior education before getting a puppy, so you are ready when issues arise.
