Joanne St. Andre

Joanne was involved with breeding and showing champion Irish setters for a number of years.  Her last Irish setter, Ladyhawke, passed away in early 2002; a legacy of the Tirvelda lines bred by the late Ted Eldredge.

Joanne became involved with the Bracco Italiano breed purely by accident.  Driving through rural New York state while visiting family in June of 2000, she spied one romping around its front yard and stopped to see it.  What a spectacular dog!  What kind is it?  Walking away with the knowledge that it was an Italian pointer, she spent three days on the internet attempting to locate an Italian Pointer...only to finally stumble upon the real breed name: Bracco Italiano.  She knew that she would someday have to have one of these incredibly beautifull, smart, gentle dogs.

She spent time looking into the breed, finding out about health and temperament and all the other things that are important to considering a breed.  After writing the North American Bracco Italiano Club for information on the breed, she received a lovely, lengthy email all about the breed.  On vacation in the Holland in March of 2001, she met Jaap Muller and Tina Steffens and their lovely dogs.

Several months after returning from Holland, she lost her Ladyhawke.  After a period of time she decided that it was "right" to get a puppy again.  She found Olivia, again on the Internet, from Dry Heart Kennel in Mandan, ND.  It was only then that she realized that the person from NABIC who had taken the time to email her about the breed, over a year earlier, turned out to be Olivia's breeder, Stephanie Meisel.

Joanne now spends time spoiling Olivia and her two basset hound sisters, Gretel and Lambchop.  She is dedicated to helping others who are interested in the Bracco Italiano breed learn about them and, hopefully, love them as she does.

Joanne lives in the suburbs of Chicago and can be reached at:  847.415.2254 or 773.495.1505 or at ms_joanne@hotmail.com(Note, if you see email address ms_joanne@hotmail.com/start, remove the /start.)
